Every week, 38 Australians are diagnosed with multiple myeloma, according to Myeloma Australia.

Mum of four, Karen Wilde was diagnosed in 2012 following a routine blood test to investigate why she wasn’t recovering from a surgery as anticipated.

“I was working as a physio in private practice when I had a couple of bad luck accidents,” Karen said. “I got knocked over by a horse float which led to a serious foot injury and a total hip replacement. I thought I should be able to jump out of bed after this, but I didn’t.

“I decided it was my old life I had to leave behind, and this was my new life.”
